Jaipur : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has directed a special campaign to reduce road accidents by addressing black spots in the state. He emphasized the need to identify accident-prone areas and resolve them promptly to prevent the loss of lives and property due to vehicle accidents.

The Chief Minister instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to ensure the quality of work during the campaign and complete the tasks within the stipulated time. He stated that approximately ₹2,350 crore is being allocated to improve black spots in the state to significantly reduce accidents.

Key Highlights:

  1. Quality Control and Standards: Strict action will be taken against those who fail to adhere to prescribed standards in road construction and maintenance.
  2. NHAI Initiative: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 40 black spots and is working on improvements at a cost of ₹812.64 crore. Out of these, 13 projects have been completed, while the remaining are in progress.
  3. Upcoming Projects: NHAI is also set to begin work on 37 more identified black spots with a budget of ₹821.51 crore.
  4. Public Works Department Efforts: The PWD, in collaboration with NHAI, is working on 176 black spots at an estimated cost of ₹650 crore. Additionally, the PWD aims to resolve 117 black spots by March 31, 2025.
  5. State Highway Authority Projects: The Rajasthan State Highway Authority is addressing 30 black spots with an investment of ₹21.72 crore, targeted for completion by January. Furthermore, improvements on four roads, costing ₹20.34 crore, are being undertaken to enhance road safety.
