Shocking Crocodile Attack in Rajasthan’s Udaipur

A tragic incident took place in Udaipur district, Rajasthan, where a 34-year-old woman lost her life in a crocodile attack while trying to save her daughter. The shocking incident occurred in the Hiran Magri police station area, creating fear and panic among locals.

According to reports, the woman’s daughter was the initial target of the crocodile. In an attempt to protect her child, the mother bravely intervened but became the victim herself. The crocodile dragged her into the pond and killed her before rescue teams could reach.

Mother’s Brave Attempt to Save Daughter

The victim, identified as Pyari Devi, a resident of Parola village under Jhamar Kotra Gram Panchayat, had gone to graze goats in the forest area with her 12-year-old daughter. Around 3 p.m., while washing clothes and cleaning near the pond, the crocodile suddenly attacked.

Witnesses stated that Devi quickly pushed her daughter aside, ensuring the child’s safety, but within seconds the reptile gripped her and pulled her underwater. The terrified girl screamed for help, drawing the attention of nearby villagers.

Police and Civil Defense Rescue Operation

Hiran Magri Police Officer Bharat Yogi confirmed that the incident was reported immediately, and both police and civil defense teams rushed to the site. A strenuous 90-minute search operation was carried out to recover the body.

Sadly, by the time the victim was retrieved, she had already succumbed. Officials revealed that the crocodile had partially eaten parts of her body, making the incident even more horrifying for the family and community.

Nature Park Connection Raises Concerns

Authorities stated that the pond where the attack occurred lies close to Bagdarh Nature Park, which is home to crocodiles. It is suspected that the reptile may have entered the pond from the park area.

Following the tragedy, villagers are living in fear and demanding stricter safety measures around water bodies, especially those connected to natural reserves. Officials are also considering increased patrolling and awareness campaigns to prevent such accidents in the future.

Fear Among Locals After the Incident

The shocking attack has left the community traumatized. Locals are now hesitant to use nearby ponds for daily chores like washing clothes, bathing, or grazing cattle. Many have urged the forest and wildlife department to take immediate steps to relocate crocodiles from human-populated areas to ensure safety.
